Brand Introduction
Hamilton is a watch company founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand gained recognition for its first developed pocket watch, the Broadway Limited, which served as an accurate tool for train timekeeping. In 1914, it was selected as a supplier for the U.S. Army, and in 1919, it began providing services for skiing time measurements and the U.S. Postal Service. In 1930, it became the official watch for many airlines, and although civilian sales were temporarily halted during World War II in 1947, nearly one million military watches were produced. In 1970, it introduced the world's first digital watch, the Pulsure, and was acquired by the Omega-Tissot-Lanco group, SSIH in 1977. This company became part of SMH in 1983, and Hamilton is now part of the Swatch Group.
